Nick Smye, Principal Consultant at Mason Advisory will be speaking on ‘How will utilities utilise IoT to enhance their SCADA networks’ at the Critical Communications MENA 2017 event in Dubai.

“Over the past few years there have been major developments in mobile broadband technologies (such as 3G and 4G) and these have enabled the massive growth in mobile data, smart phones, and applications. At the same time, the use of the internet and associated cloud based services has expanded dramatically. This, in turn, has led to the development of new communication bearers to support the vast number of anticipated IoT devices, both in terms of 4G, NB-IoT and future 5G systems.

Utilities have long been users of SCADA to support their mission critical applications including both wired and wireless bearers such as TETRA. This presentation will explore these emerging IoT wireless technologies as potential bearers for mission critical SCADA and compare and contrasts them with traditional wireless bearers such as TETRA. It will also consider the inherent resilience of these bearers and their ability to support mission critical applications.”

Nick’s presentation  – Monday 25th September at 14:00.
