February 2023

Through the Trust Index© survey and Culture Audit© assessment GPtW capture both the employee feedback and the organisational practices that make up a truly impactful workplace culture.

The UK’s Best Workplaces™ for Wellbeing 2023 have been announced and we’re delighted to have secured a place in the medium-sized business category, among 325 organisations in total.

The UK-wide award, recognises organisations that place wellbeing at the forefront of their workplace culture, focusing on the psychological, physical, social and financial aspects of working life.

Romilly Gleave, Head of People and Talent at Mason Advisory, says:

“We’re thrilled to have been recognised in the medium category for our dedication to workplace wellbeing and our commitment to ensuring our staff are happy, healthy, and feel fulfilled. Wellbeing and business success go hand in hand, as happy people produce better work, equating to happy clients, and we continue to listen, adapt, and tailor our wellbeing practices to meet the changing needs of our team.

“We are committed to creating the best environment we can for individuals to thrive and for our business to operate efficiently, so this accolade demonstrates that our efforts are working. We constantly work to normalise conversations around wellbeing and mental health, providing visibility and leadership support across the whole company. This means active sponsorship of the Wellbeing Group by a director; having two directors trained as Mental Health First Aiders; and inviting speakers to discuss topics around mental health and workplace wellbeing. We also have regular virtual ‘tea and talk’ sessions where staff can talk openly and connect with each other away from a work context. All team members have access to online wellbeing and mindfulness toolkits, and we have a ‘women’s networking group’ to discuss and understand the complexity of issues women face in the workplace and beyond. They range from career progress to the menopause.

“This recognition is a real landmark achievement for us and a morale-booster for our whole team as we continue ensure all our employees feel valued and supported every day.”

We are proud of having established a great company culture, and continue to nurture this to attract, retain, and develop the best talent. We’re continually investing and implementing improvements in all these areas to build a culture of wellbeing.

Mason Advisory has always advocated a holistic, inclusive approach to workplace wellbeing and work-life matters. It’s now more important than ever with hybrid working, and our incredible culture has meant that we have been able to adjust.

As a company, we support community projects financially and provide paid volunteering days to enable our employees to get involved with charitable organisations that align to our values and are close to our people’s hearts.

Some of the activities include:

  • financially supporting 14 members of staff to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, including a donation to their chosen charity – SMA UK.
  • bulb planting on Tweedle Common which is a former landfill site that has been reclaimed as open space for the local community
  • planting trees to support the City of Trees
  • cleaning up canal paths with the Canal River Trust
  • creating and personally delivering 54 Christmas shoeboxes to a local residential care home in Salford, Greater Manchester.

To ensure we have plenty of activities during the next financial year, our wellbeing forum are now discussing future activities.
