We did it! - Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge update

Date:

June 2022

The Yorkshire three peaks challenge is a circular walk which encompasses three major peaks in the Yorkshire Dales, Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, arguably the best-known hills in the area

As if it were ever in doubt. On Sunday 26 June, the Mason Advisory team completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks (Y3P) Challenge as part of this year’s Wellbeing activities.

14 went up and all 14 came down (in varying states of exhaustion) but what a day! The event was a huge success and we managed to complete the challenge within the 12-hour limit. Minor injuries aside, everybody agreed the event was a great way to get to know more about other team members and for new starters to see that we are as lovely as we say we are.

Abigails Trails – the company who led the group – was a great choice and both Abigail, her colleague Andrew, and her family, were a welcome addition and we would happily recommend again.

We did the challenge in support of Spinal Muscular Atrophy UK – and raised £500 for the charity that is currently providing support to our Marketing Manager Bridie’s 6-month-old niece. Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a rare, genetically inherited neuromuscular condition. It causes progressive muscle weakness and loss of movement due to muscle wasting (atrophy). Bridie was more than chuffed, and the thought of her niece kept her going as she struggled up the final peak – Ingleborough.

It wasn’t all hard graft though as we prepped the evening before with a large curry in Saltaire, and a quick hydration stop before more hydration at the hotel bar, giving most of us a couple of hours sleep pre-climb.

These events are hugely popular within Mason Advisory, and we have a few more lined up in the coming year, so keep an eye out in our news section.
